The client was faced with a major import problem at the Port of Barcelona; he urgently needed to carry out the customs clearance procedure that would release the goods he was transporting in a shipping container and allow him to continue his manufacturing process. He contacted the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce for import advice.

As the skins were natural skins, the Customs Animal Health inspection authorities detained the container and positioned it for a visual inspection of both the goods and the documentation. In order to clear customs, the client was required to present a sworn translation of the two licences issued by his Canadian supplier that were accompanying the goods, and it was at that point that the Chamber got in touch with Overseas Translations.

The client needed the goods urgently in order to continue production and meet the deadlines agreed with his customers. He requested that we try to complete the sworn translation as soon as possible to avoid costly storage charges for the container at the port terminal, which had already been blocked for several days.

The content of the licences amounted to around 2,500 words, which usually take 2-3 days to translate since sworn translation takes longer to complete than simple translation. On top of that, the files were of low quality and with many fields and complex formatting.

With our reliable sworn translators, we had managed to carry out the sworn translation from English into Spanish on the same day and the client could complete the customs clearance and receive the container the following day (Friday).
