Sworn interpretation is performed exclusively by sworn translators accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

This accreditation certifies a mastery of the lexicon and terminology specific to this field. These interpreters are experts in the legal, legislative and administrative workings of their countries of operation.

Their fields of activity can range from communication with public institutions, certification of testimonies or powers of attorney to interpreting in court proceedings.

What are the characteristics of sworn interpretation?

It can be performed only by a sworn translator-interpreter appointed and authorised by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation or by the respective Regional Ministry of the Autonomous Community for Spain’s co-official language.
Interpreting in legal contexts.
By means of oral translation, the interpreter attests and certifies the declarant’s testimony.
Their role is identical to that of a notary official; they validate the translation and vouch for the accuracy of its content.
